Two of my favourite things for turning your skincare routine into a little facial massage ritual!

If you’ve been wanting to try gua sha but aren’t quite sure what to use with it, this is one option that we love here at MKS and is easy to start with.

This duo pairs the Bare Roots Gua Sha Tool and their Omega Oil, giving you everything you need for a beautiful relaxing facial massage at home.

The Omega Oil provides plenty of slip for your gua sha to glide comfortably over the skin but is also packed full of skin loving ingredients.

It’s quite a versatile oil and can be used on its own or incorporated into a skincare routine. It’s rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 and is designed to support the skin barrier, help the skin feel comfortable, nourished and help with hydration retention.

Pairing it with gua sha gives you a really simple way to turn those few drops of oil into a relaxing facial massage.

And this is one of those skincare rituals where I think the experience is just as important as the product.

There’s something so powerful for not just your skin health but also from a slowing down, de stressing and self care perspective as well. Even just taking five minutes to apply a few drops of oil and slowing down enough to actually massage your face rather than rushing your routine can make such a difference.

A little pro tip:

You don’t need loads of oil!

Start with around 3-4 drops on your finger tips, press hands together then press the oil onto your face, neck and decolletage to disperse. Then gently massage in. 

Then use your gua sha stone with light, comfortable pressure.

If your skin feels like the gua sha is dragging, add a little more oil. Some people prefer 4-6 drops of oil, especially if doing the decolletage as well.

But if the stone is gliding easily then you’re good to go.

And remember: more pressure doesn’t mean better results.

Directions

How to Use

Cleanse your skin and apply your usual skincare routine.

Apply 3-4 drops of the Omega Oil to hands and gently massage over your face, neck and decolletage.

Using your chosen Bare Roots Gua Sha stone, gently glide over the skin using light, comfortable pressure. Work across the face, neck and decolletage, following the contours of your face.

Take a few minutes to massage wherever you’re holding tension and enjoy the process.

Clean your gua sha stone after use with a gentle cleanser or mild soap and lukewarm water. Then dry thoroughly before storing.

Tip: if you don’t enjoy the feeling of oil on your skin, you can apply the Omega Oil before your moisturiser rather than after it.

Can be used daily or as desired.

Note: You will find the directions for how to use each product on the packaging and/or product itself.

Use the guide below as a general order of application. Adjust as needed based on your skin and skincare products.

1.    Cleanse

2.    Mists / Tonics

3.    Serums

4.    Moisturiser

5.    Apply Bare Roots Omega Oil (about 3-4 drops but some may prefer 4-6 drops) to face, neck and decolletage and then use your Gua Sha stone to perform your facial massage. Please see the instructions inside the Bare Roots Gua Sha stone packaging.

If you are doing this in the morning, you would want to wait for your products to really absorb into the skin before applying SPF. But SPF would be the very last step after your skincare is done and absorbed.

Warnings

·     Use gentle pressure. Gua sha should never cause significant pain or bruising.

·     Stop using if the skin becomes painful or irritated.

·     As this tool is made from natural stone, each piece is unique and may vary slightly in colour, pattern and markings.

Safe Use Practices
The following practices should be followed to maintain the shelf life of your product:

·     Apply products with clean, dry hands to avoid contamination

·     Store skincare products in a cool place, away from the light and humidity

·     Close the cap or lid of the product properly to avoid oxidation

·     Discontinue use if there are any changes in the smell, texture or viscosity
